About PitchBook

In 2007, PitchBook Founder and CEO John Gabbert knew that his idea for an actionable, extensive database for private equity-focused intelligence was worth pursuing. He and seven others set up shop in a 200-square-foot, windowless office, and the rest is PitchBook history. Since those early days, PitchBook has expanded its coverage areas to include the entirety of the public and private markets. We’ve added thousands of datasets and millions of individual insights to the platform, and we’ve pioneered new features and products that surface the information our clients need to win. We look at every day as a new opportunity to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations through helping them make informed decisions that propel their firms forward. Now part of Morningstar, PitchBook is headquartered in Seattle, London and Hong Kong with additional offices in New York and San Francisco. PitchBook is a provider of business intelligence tools that are designed to collect different types of data from websites, press releases, filings, and so much more. PitchBook's analytic and data management tools allow users to discover new opportunities with integrated search and discovery capabilities. Utilizing natural language processing and machine learning, PitchBook can analyze piles of data and discover valuable information that is relevant. With the PitchBook platform, users can utilize its data, research and analysis tools, along with the system’s mobile app and Excel plugin. Good but pricey product

This software helps me understand various sectors as a corporate development professional. While expensive, it has proved very useful for my team.

Pros

I like the ability to create reports for specific industries and save them. I also like that the software will suggest competitors automatically.

Cons

The price is quite steep compared to other similar platforms. Also the funding data sometimes seems to be out of date. Pitchbook works with insider contacts to get this data, so I'm wondering if their network of contacts has recently declined.

Pitchbook has so many good options!

Overall PitchBook is an awesome software to work with!

Pros

I would say for me the best part about PitchBook is definitely the Excel and PowerPoint plugins!!

Cons

The only thing that would need improving is better Customer Service. But that still wasn't really even worth complaining about!

Quick Informative Resource

Pros

It’s a quick way to find pertinent information about a company’s legitimacy, investors, acquisitions, patents, and sometimes their competition.

Cons

PitchBook doesn’t always have the same info available for every company.
