Powerful but slightly complicated

Using it to streamline the processes

Pros

I really like the way it integrates with the oracle erp. Also it is easy to use so makes the transition from legacy PLM systems to Agile easy.

Cons

It's slightly complex to begin with. Some navigation options are hard to follow for the user s and do not make sense logically.

Massive, flexible enterprise-level PLM, but limited system integration

Pros

You can define all the processes, workflows, business objects that you want, with notifications, privileges, usergroups and certified audit trails. You get enough rope to hang yourself and your business, so you'll better hire a PLM expert to handle this.

Once it's set up, it can handle massive amounts of information and it's pretty stable (if you don't mess up the configuration).

Cons

The user interface is definitely not one of the most modern. Actually, it looks like it's from 2000s. Custom searches need you to know what you're doing, but that's probably due to the high customizability of the business objects.

Working in customization and integration of Agile PLM with other custom solutions, I can say that you have to work up a sweat to get anything humanely acceptable out of it.

You can extend the behaviours but some events are not interceptable. There's also a Java API that is one of the slowest things you can think of, and again, not everything is within reach.

This means that to do your job you might even have to access the backing database, which is something you really don't want to do, both from a theoretical and pratical perspective.

We have worked on the Java API so much that we've found a couple of bugs, but Oracle wasn't really receptive of our requests.

Oracle - Best from the rest

We use it to manage the product information. This tool has improved quality and lowered the costs.

Pros

UI is really good, easy to use.
Upload the data on the go with its mobile app
Robust version control documentation feature.

Cons

Steep learning curve. It would take some time for sure to learn all the things. Everything else is really good.

Easy Product Management

Pros

Easy to document products and have a way of looking up a product history and quality issues in the past.

Cons

When scrolling, text boxes and drop down menus will keep their position on the screen and cover up information farther down on the page.

Solid PLM, used it for several years. Reliable and robust solution.

Pros

Oracle softwares are generally super reliable, Agile PLM is no exception. System has never crashed on me and handles large data sets well. You can export complex reports easily.

Cons

This is a upper-end PLM, which means high costs. Might not be the solution for most small sized companies, but definitely makes sense for large (10,000+ employees) companies.

Good If You Set it Up Right and Know How to Use It

Make sure you map out your current processes and how you would like your new optimized process to look. If you're doing packaging specs, make sure you have someone knowledgeable setting up the new spec formats, BOM formats, etc. It's very easy to mess up. I have implemented a number of times at various companies and even fixed a botched implementation. Setting it up properly can save you and your team over 90% of your time in creating specs and BOMs. There are too many things to list here so make sure you get someone experienced to do it or help provide guidance. And don't forget to do user tests before implementation to make sure your new processes work as intended.

Pros

I like that you can streamline processes, require approvals, escalate approvals if someone isn't doing their part, and even reduce workload if you know how to setup the system for your group's workflow. I also like how you can click on hyperlinks to drive down into BOMs and parts and specifications just by clicking around.

Cons

Every screen looks the same as the next regardless of whether you're looking at specifications, Finished Goods, BOMs, etc. You need to know what you're doing. Gets boring and I need to get up occasionally or I will fall asleep.

Powerful management platform, not necessarily user-friendly

We use PLM to maintain company-wide documents and standards that have to be reviewed and documented.

Pros

PLM is very powerful. We have so many documents that are drafted, reviewed, and stored in PLM without issues with the software slowing or facing crashes, etc. I like that people can create their own bookmarks.

Cons

The interface is a little outdated and not always user-friendly, even for simple tasks like opening/downloading documents. I was not on the team that set this up for our company, so that could also reflect our company's decisions. The search feature is also not super helpful.

I am a user of a workflow based document management and approval implementation of Agile PLM

Controls quality documents as part of a larger Quality Management system implementation. It does the job as expected.

Pros

Easy to use workflow tool. Allows for CFR 21 Part 11 compliant electronic signature of quality related documentd.

Cons

User interface can be a little clunky with several clicks to complete a task. This is just a minor annoyance.

A powerful program overall, but hard to use

It does have the ability to manage lots of files, but it's clunky and hard to use.

Pros

It has the capability to manage models and files and the power to keep track of tens or hundreds of thousands of files.

Cons

The interface is very unintuitive and confusing. It also has problems with 3D model files that are interrelated (that reference each other).

Great Product Collaboration

In general, my experience with Agile has been satisfying, it’s a great collaborative tool that allows you to get the information that you need in a timely manner, which means that you are getting the most updated information, easy to use for everybody with a good level of details allowing you to have all your projects in one app.

Pros

My experience with Agile PLM is mainly on checking different documents related to different changes in products, specifications, quality requirements. In general, I think it's a great tool that allows you to get information easily and updated about the projects that people from other departments are working on. For instance, change development process, supply change requirement, regulatory process, labeling implementation and so on. As a collaborate tool seems to be really good and helpful to get all the team involved and updated on the different projects that can affect their jobs in a direct or indirect way.

Cons

In general looks good maybe they can improve the user interface to be a more friendly user, better layout, an alternative dashboard.

The ease of use was the only thing I had an issue with

Easy to find information needed quickly.

Pros

Like all Oracle products this software has so many different functions and features to use in order to help your business run smoothly.

Cons

The ease of use was not the easiest and quickest thing for me. I think if there were more training features on this software it would make it much easier to use. So many features and I have not been able to figure them all out yet.

Agile is a standard

Agile PLM has been the standard document control and PLM tool for most medical device companies I have dealt with. The variable work flows you can use in the system and the ability to configure it so suppliers and customers can access it makes it very powerful. Being able to establish a document system that includes your DHF and DMR (Device History File and Device Master Record) makes FDA audits very straightforward.
