About Podio

Citrix Podio is a project management and social collaboration tool. It allows businesses to create custom applications to best meet unique business requirements and preferred workflow—without the need for technical skills or development resources. The Podio App Market grants users access to hundreds of free apps, pre-built by Podio users to satisfy a range of industry-specific requirements and project management functions, such as task management, project portfolio management and issue management. There are also apps for functions such as customer relationship management (CRM) and applicant tracking. Across all apps, Podio offers a range of social collaboration features, including Facebook-esque "likes" and file-sharing anywhere within the system, as well as internal instant messaging and video chat. Podio’s app-building capabilities make it a good fit for smaller organizations that require a high degree of customization—particularly those looking to manage multiple business processes within a single system.

A Lot Like Digital Lego

We loved working with it. It was such a great tool to use. However, we did in the end switch away to a more traditional PM system, just because the setup and structuring was a little bit of overkill for what we needed as we grew.

Pros

Podio is this fantastic gem that you don't see in other project management, task management or workflow management systems. It's quite literally limitless. You can create unique systems and flows for your own needs without a ton of tech-knowledge (but you certainly need some). It's a really neat way to create the EXACT workflow and data management pieces that you're looking for.

Cons

Podio is not simple to set up or implement. It takes time, planning and a decent amount of tech understanding. You don't need to know how to program, but it's certainly not for the faint of heart with the setup. However once you get it - it's very cool. I honestly don't have too much more that's negative to say about it.

Podio is a BEAST!

My overall experience with Podio is great. I started with Podio while running a real estate investment company. I now utilized it with my roofing company as well. The advanced automations with globiflow make it a force to be recon with in the CRM space.

Pros

The ability to customize Podio in order for it to help scale your business is what I like most about Podio. All of the latest integrations are keeping Podio at the top of the list for CRMs.

Cons

There are very few times it occurs, but when the site/status goes down during the middle of the work day it can wreck havoc on a business that relies on it heavily. Over the last 6 years I have only had it affect me 3-4 times.

Good- but look at the total price.

I liked Podio, and if you don't need a lot of bells and whistles the basic version may be ideal for you.

Pros

I really liked how Podio integrated with Google Drive and Dropbox. it made it super easy to share files. I think it's one of the more intuitive platforms for users.

Cons

It's NOT that intuitive for those setting up the tasks and workflows. It may take them awhile to get things working the way you want, and if you only have one person managing the team, and they leave, you may be in dire straits if you need to make changes. I also thought Podio became more expensive quickly. the basic version is affordable but every additional feature costs more and then you are paying A LOT. And considering all the time for set-up, you may be hesitant to leave. I needed a better tracking and reporting system than what I could get from Podio, and price was getting high, so I switched
