Good for payroll and HR, not for product manufacturing
For our purposes, it was a one-trick pony, used for payroll only. It was not flexible enough for us to use it for ordering raw materials, manufacturing, and inventory control.
Pros
It was good for payroll processing and employee management.
Cons
It did not work well for tracking inventory.
Response from Sage

Not much good to say
Just okay. Difficult program to work with for a small business. Used it only because CPA at the time had recommended. Since then they have put us on Quick Books Online. Love that platform.
Pros
Not much. Too complicated for our small business.
Cons
Overly complicated. No way to tie bank account into accounting software. We only used the firmware version; we did not use an online version.
Response from Sage
Thank you for your feedback, Damian. We're sorry to hear that Sage Accounting didn't meet your expectations for your small business. We understand the importance of simplicity and seamless integration, and we're continuously working to improve our product. We're glad to hear that QuickBooks Online is working well for you. Your insights are valuable, and we appreciate you sharing your experience. Thank you for your time.

SAGE 50 Accounts - NFP
Overall it is very positive. The software is mostly reliable and the support team, if required, are always helpful. The online help guides are very useful too.
Pros
We like that it is intuitive and has a specific accounting module for us as a charity - fund accounting and gift aid functionality.
Cons
We have a problem at every year end (last 5 years) when rolling the balances forward on the restricted funds (new opening balances on Balance Sheet). They are always incorrect, causing our opening balance sheet to be wrong (balances of unrestricted funds and restricted funds) and we have to manually adjust them - something our Auditors are not keen on and we have to get additional checks done in order for our accounts to be signed off. This has been looked at several times but SAGE support, and our data submitted to them for review, but they cannot resolve for us. Very frustrating and a huge admin task for us at year end when we are already busy.

Long Time User, First Time Reviewer
We have been using this company for over 30 years. We started using a software known as Bedford that eventually changed to AccPac and then now known as Sage.
Pros
Forms have the look needed for a small business to “look” good, larger than we might actually be and the forms can be easily modified to be branded.
Cons
The software does not interface easily with email software, particularly Office 365.
Response from Sage
Thank you for your review, Keith! We're glad to hear that you appreciate the customizable forms in Sage Accounting. We understand your concerns about the interface with email software, particularly Office 365, and we're continuously working to improve. Your long-term loyalty and feedback are invaluable to us.
Thanks,
Bethany McDermott
