Decent tool for the money but zero customer service
Pros
Ease of use, inexpensive, web-based interface makes it convenient.
Cons
Their “Book System” is cumbersome and confusing. Terrible customer service. I’ve renewed my monthly subscription twice. Each time I pay the fee online, and get a confirmation email receipt that my account has been paid for the month, then, each time I have to spend a day or so trying to get in touch with them because when I login, it tells me that my account is inactive. That makes me lose a couple days of work. That’s the main reason I am not using it anymore. Too many other good systems out there to have to deal with these issues.

Stay away from this product
I beta tested the original product in the 90's. It was great. It was in MY computer vs on-line like the current version. The LAMI's allowed me to stay on top of current pricing. When I was contacted by a salesperson [SENSITIVE CONTENT], I renewed. She did tell my it was now on-line. I ran two estimates within 24 hours and knew I didn't like the new format. If I did not know what I was looking for, I would have been totally lost. You could not even search for the various components that made the system so great. Then I called the sales lady - she didn't respond to any calls. I just wrote the money off. I had always gotten calls when time to renew my subscription. Didn't happen this year which was fine until I checked my credit card. I was billed for another full year on [SENSITIVE CONTENT]. I immediately disputed the charge. Evidently, the hometech people didn't respond to Citicard because I got a letter saying that it was up to me to prove that I HAD CANCELLED THE RENEWAL UNDER THE TERMS WITH COSTESTIMATOR. I have spent 4 hours this afternoon (5/4/2022) calling all the numbers for the company and sending an email and then writing the credit card company. No one answered the phone nor responded. The TERMS do not exist. This afternoon has cost me more than the renewal fee. Back to the point: this was a great system for many years, BUT the costestimator is absolutely not customer friendly. Actually, it is not friendly to anyone accept the salespeople.
Pros
This product with this company stinks. There are no PROs.
Cons
It is bad all the way around. Hard to use. They own your estimates. Case in point, when I cancelled today, the two test estimates I did last March went away. Note said that when I renewed, I could have them back. There is no support even if I wanted any.

Do Not Buy This Estimating Software!
Pros
Nothing. I wish there was something good I could say about this software, but there isn't.
Cons
This software is nothing like the older version I've used for years. I'm not sure if it changed owners, but you can no longer write specific reports, or phases in the same estimate. You have to create a separate estimate for each phase. Imaging going to the customer with ten different estimates and pricing for the same job. I signed up for an annual subscription thinking I would like it because the website says "No Risk-cancel at anytime" and yes, after many unanswered phone calls I finally went on-line and cancelled, but they refused to give me back my money. When I finally spoke to someone they stated "we said you could cancel anytime but that doesn't mean we're giving you a refund." Do yourself a favor and go to Clearestimates.com
