OmniStar Grants for small research program management
This is a good product that provides a grant and project management system, combined with a CRM. Very good and rapid customer support when needed.
Pros
The combination of out of the box features and configuration capability is very useful to ensure a tailored product that fits our needs. Have been able to solve all workplace needs.

Customisable and adaptable
OminStar Grants allows us to manage the project application process, assessments and approvals, contracting and then regular reporting and tracking. Each project involves multiple parties and all parties (involving both researchers and admin staff) are able to access and view as appropriate.
Pros
We have been able to take OmniStar Grants and customise and adapt it to align with the needs, processes and procedures of our business. Team members and researchers working remotely across Australia have been able to access OmniStar in real time, working in virtual teams to enter, review and update data seamlessly. It has made our work so much more effective and efficient, especially as we adapt to a hybrid working model, post-Covid.
Cons
It is good to have access to all the documents associated with different grants and projects, but sometimes the method of accessing them appears to be a bit convoluted and clunky.

The ability to customise the out of the box functionality of the system to algin to our specific grant program governance processes and framework. Pre award functionality provides for easy and efficient application submission. The ability to submit review and assess project performance reports, capture meeting outcomes and decisions. Record keeping!!!

Great training program, friendly service, however what seem to be comparatively simple glitches take a longer than expected time to fix.
Pros
Overall it's very accessible to users and administrators with clear processes to follow. It's also flexible allowing you to build your own forms, which are straightforward, and for which you don't need to understand code (although understanding code would be of benefit). Building our own forms required additional training (which was very good), and they took a reasonable amount of time to build, set up and tweak post implementation.
Cons
The automatically generated output documents containing application information, and used in our assessment process, is not well formatted, and doesn't provide the content in an easy-to-use manner. The dashboard and reporting options are not as accessible as we’d like, although we've found it easy enough to extract the data we need from the system.

OmniStar is a great solution for grant management
Very positive experience to date and we have not yet utilised all of the available functionality. The system has allowed to us improve our user experience and governance of the grant programs we run
