Quick uploading, sharing and downloading of drawings. Good control over which users can access what drawings. Multiple workflows possible to manage flow of information. Generally gives great control over documents.

Cons

Would like the workflows to be more adaptable, for example, if you wanted one additional person to review a drawing as a one-off, there is no way to accommodate this within the workflows, they are quite rigid.

Accepted as a form of file sharing by many businesses and individuals good track record.

Cons

Process of uploading files seriously needs rethinking. Adopt a similar approach to Dropbox.

Clear, concise and easy to use. Multiple features available to enable you to keep good project control. Always continuous improvements being developed for users.

No being able to batch vote multiple items and attached different mark ups for each item.

there are some strange ways of naming things that are just not the same as in construction, and can be confusing at times, the system can also be slow at times

Viewpoint is a good system which you can adaptable to your own company needs and with in a project you can add extra adaptions for a Client need. The adaptions are great given that most client have different requires for document control/issue.

Viewpoint is good but a bit off putting to new starts until you get them trained and using the system. The system does not have an MRP set-up option and as my company is more of a Hybrid between construction and manufacturing it would be a great option

The structured approach to permissions and workflows. Permissions and workflows are both extremely robust in both their design and deployment.
Virtual containers also allow us to share information without over complication and ensures we are not compromising the integrity of our information governance.

I think there needs to be more functionality with regards to reminders/due dates etc.
Auto push through is available however I feel that the ability to set reminders with notifications, with this feature also being visible in a users my inbox area would be a massive help and would also add an extra dimension when reporting.
When using virtual containers, recipients also have access to the documents properties which can on occasion not be required due to any workflow attachments (comment sheets) which would be available to them, a selection to hide properties would be a benefit.

Pros

If you are known with software's, the fact that you wont have any problems overcoming this one in a week or two.

Sometimes it crashes and if you have to create a large amount of folders it takes a lot of time to create them even with the Viewpoint for Desktop.

It is nice having all the project information in one place and fairly easily accessible from any location

It is initially difficult to use VfP, some items could be displayed better to make the interface more user friendly as well as quicker to identify categories at a glance.

The quality that I like most about Viewpoint is the ease of use. The design is very intuitive and the layout is simple and uncomplicated. I also like the regular upgrades.

Its a good storage facility and reasonably easy to use

Viewpoint is very locked down and if you have any issues and the administrator is not around.... you have an issue... in addition to this if you use Viewpoint with other systems, they will not be compatible. Prime example is Conquest will not talk to Viewpoint and and you cannot access the documents directly... you need to download onto a static area which makes Viewpoint useless.

Viewpoint for Project offers several workflow options, but we think this would provide a report on the comments to speed up our work. This tool is not yet available.

The mark up tool is good but I would like an option to supersede the previous drawing.
