Incredible Bible Software
I really like Logos Bible Software. I love being able to access so many commentaries in one place. I just wish I knew how to do more with it, because I know it has so much more to offer.
Pros
TONS of resources. It's got commentaries, dictionaries, lexicons, ebooks, and on and on. I mostly use it for the commentaries. You can search passages, and get all kinds of resources that pop up. You can also search topics, and get incredible info there, too. They also have a store where you can buy more resources, and they give away free books every month.
Cons
There is so much that Logos does, that what I use it for only scratches the surface of all it's capabilities. There are training videos that you can pay for to learn how to do more, but it would be nice to find some free resources to train me on how to do more. If there are free trainings, I don't know about them.
Also, it is very expensive. I was able to get an incredible discount on mine almost 10 years ago, but to buy it outright is far more than I'd be willing to spend.

Best Bible Study Software Without a Doubt
Excellent! I love this software and use it almost day and suggest it to others as well.
Pros
I can study the Bible in the original languages (I only know New Testament Greek, but I will be learning Hebrrew). I love that I can open what is known as the "Factbook" and type in any topic to see what resources in my Logos library address the topic. I can also search for any Bible passage, and Logos will show all pertinent resources. I can plan all my sermons, and take extensive notes all from Logos.
Cons
The pricing can be high for added new resources to the library. This can be reduced by buying grouped resources. While its most basic functions are easy, some of the features require a lot of knowledge to use, and documentation isn't always available.

Disappointed
Decent
Pros
The massive library, the tools, and the functionality.
Cons
Expensive seems like something new is being offered for another expensive price. I called support for what I thought to be a simple matter {word fine puzzle} because I cannot get it to work any longer, actually hasn't worked in several years. I was told over the phone this was a small matter and that is why it has not been addressed. Are you kidding me?!!! Now don't get me wrong I love this program but to act like something I use is a small matter is outrageous!

Comprehensive but Friendly Bible Tool
I truly love this Bible App for what it offers and the style it uses.
Pros
+ What love about the app is that It has more Bible Study Tools than one would demand. The menu itself was professionally categorized for easy direction to any user.
+When you want to go to specific text of the Bible, it gives an easy and flexible menu for locating the desired verse. You can choose to check a Bible verse by quickly picking it from the grid view, or by typing the passage on a field above the grid, or by scrolling a freely flowing table of contents. You can also use the recent and favorites sections which the application automatically saves for you as you read the Bible
+ Has a dictionary that offers instant definitions as you read through the Bible. It is a very quick and convenient way of learning any new subject or area of spiritual life you desire to grow.
Cons
If I am to talk of the downside of the app, I would only mention of file size being big on android. I am saying that because the app is 75MB of size before downloading modules.

Exactly what a pastor needs
I have enjoyed Logos significantly and would highly recommend it to any pastor or leader looking for a study resource.
Pros
Logos is deep and rich with valuable insight and information to help any pastor better prepare for sermons, bible studies and small groups. The search feature is very good and creates a lot of options for reading and research. There is plenty of resources here that everyday pastors' will find incredibly useful.
This software saves time by having all the information in one spot and makes having a large library unnecessary. The phone app is pretty good as well, although I don't find I use it much.
Cons
It's a bit expensive, which will limit some from being able to access of the great features. That being said, it's worth the price if you're able to afford it.
The layout is a bit clunky sometimes with several windows on one screen and I find that difficult to navigate. It could be that I use a 13" laptop but I suspect it would be the same on a larger screen. I can't say I have a different idea of how it should work so this criticism is not significant.

I love using Logos for my Bible studies, Bible college coursework, and to create faith...
The benefits of using Logos is wonderful. Once you become oriented to what it has to offer and how to access it quickly - it becomes a gold mine of information to help you in your personal walk of faith, Biblical studies, and to create content to help others.
Pros
The features are fabulous and the quality is excellent. Customer support is great if you need help. The program offers a wide range of resources and information for the user. You can add to the library as you go at your own pace.
Cons
Can be overwhelming to use at first, even for those with some technical background in using software programs. The pricing could be better in my personal opinion so more people can access the program content.

Logos is a powerful tool for studying the Scripture and also very expensive.
I have access to a plethora of resources to aid me in study and preparation. It would be the equivalent of having a personal research assistant - a very confused and tedious one - but a personal research assistant none the less.
Pros
You receive A LOT of resources depending on what package you buy. You have access to an extensive digital library.
Cons
The learning curve for utilizing Logos is steep. For the amount of money you pay for the software, the free training should be better and more extensive. The IPad app is not fully functional. Most of the resources the give you will go unused because you will have no idea how to use them unless you invest copious hours in the software

Powerful Bible study tool
A one stop research tool for Bible study and preparing Bible talks
Pros
Simple access to various forms of research on any passage of Scripture (languages, dictionaries, commentaries, historical documents, books, etc.)
Cons
There are so many resources to keep indexed and functioning together that it demands a majority of my computer's system resources often "bogging" my computer down or just making Logos run slowly.

Best Bible/Church Software I've Ever Used
My study of scripture has improved exponentially.
Pros
I used the Catholic version of Logos (Verbum). Not only is it first-rate Bible software but it also provides in-depth access to the writings of the Church Fathers and great theologians, saints and mystics from throughout Church history!
Cons
Not always the most intuitive interface. Would like to see better online help features and tutorials.

One of the Best of its Kind
This product has improved my overall preaching ability. I am more knowledgable of each subject that I teach. And the amount of resources at my fingertips is unbelievable.
Pros
This software has all the features you need to study the Bible, create Bible Studies, or Preach a sermon to your congregation. Probably more features that you will use right away, but you will want to learn how to use them.
Cons
The spending on this product never ends. You will likely spend more money than you ever thought you would. Also, there is a bit of a learning curve when using this product.

Best money can buy - only so much you can do
In many ways it is overkill for the typical pastor.
I teach through the Bible and often it takes a year to get through two books of the Bible.
It is hard to find the time to utilize everything on Logos unless you start studying Logos. And I feel the purpose is to study the Bible and not get tied up with hours of technical abilities to use the software.
Don’t get me wrong it is wonderful and I love it but I was hoping that the upgrades would help bring further time saving tools. But I feel in all the packages I just get so many things that I don’t need all at once. It’s easier just to order the single study book or whatever I’m studying then to buy the whole series. I was also excited when LOGOS purchased WORDsearch products which I owned and now they are merged into logos.
Pros
LOGOS software is the best Bible software on the market and its features are incredible. I even joined Morris Proctor subscription to learn more about LOGOS and its features. But then I end up studying LOGOS software more than the Bible.
Cons
I think the main problem is it’s just too much.
I want to use it to study the Bible not to spend hours figuring out how the software works.
Many books that you purchase in packages are like infomercial channels you get on cable. It’s very expensive and it seems every year with the upgrade you lose a level even though they say you don’t.
I just purchased platinum but now while it’s still platinum in Logos 8 The upgrade brought me a level down. It seems like an endless ability to catch up to portfolio which is way beyond what I need this for. There’s only so many study materials you can use even when they are virtual. What I have seems sufficient. I don’t need endless magazines from the 1950s to today. The video courses are a bit bland.

The Swiss Army Knife of Bible Study
I've used a lot of Bible software over the years. Many of them have been very well done. But Logos is more powerful and feature rich than others. It seems very mature and polished having a professional feel to it. For me it takes my Bible study to the next level. It provides quick cross references, images, Greek and Hebrew resources including audible pronunciations, maps, and much more.
Pros
Logos Bible Software is simple enough to be used by anyone yet has enough power for the scholar or theologian. There are quite a few different packages which can help get you started for less money and still have some solid features. However, if you can afford it a more expensive package comes with an amazing amount of resources.
One of my favorite features is how you can hover over words and instantly get all kinds of information in an instant. Also, the Reading Plans can really help keep you on track and there are many to chose from. You can have multiple panels open and then link them together so that as you scroll through the Bible and other resources they all stay synchronized.
Hover over any Bible reference and it displays a preview. Click on it and it takes you to that passage in your preferred Bible.
Another great feature is that all your data, notes, highlights and documents are kept in sync and available if you go to another computer or Logos on a mobile device.
Cons
Honestly, the downside would be the price. I understand why it can be expensive with all the resources and features you get but it makes it hard for the average person to purchase. Lately they have provided some good options though, whether it's Faithlife Connect or through your church using Faithlife Equip.

Massive library program that does more than previous giants would have thought possible.
Pros
Logos is really incredible. It places thousands of resources at your fingertips and has them all cross-referenced and indexed. I don't know of another program that has this level of intertextuality built into the program. You can follow links and references to the works they were citing. You can build searches on top of searches. This is a one-stop-shop library program and powerful language tool all in one.
They are constantly upgrading and adding features to keep Logos cutting edge. Their language tools are rapidly catching up to their competitors and there are more things possible that I am even aware of. I probably only know how to use about 15% of this software, but the benefits it brings are astronomical.
I love that they are also expanding into the classics field with Not and other resources. I hope their language tools in Latin will improve to match what they have in Greek.
Cons
Logos is not cheap. At all. All of their resources cost significantly more than what they would cost in print. Add in the fact that I don't like reading on a screen, and I retain information far better when I can deal with the geography of a book, and that makes it a losing proposition. Their bundles inflate book numbers with filler junk that you will never use, and would never want. You will be oversold resources and features that you will never use.

Best Bible Software Package
Logos is great for developing sermons and lesson plans!
Pros
This review is for Logos Bible Software, NOT for Proclaim
Logos simply has the largest library available for the student. The number of tools that are available are (honestly) overwhelming, but the experienced user can master these tools quickly. It is possible to easily get lost in the weeds with Logos because the weeds are so easily gotten to. However, sometimes chasing a rabbit down its hole is worth it!
Cons
It can easily get very expensive. I would recommend buying sets you want or only investing in a library if just about everything it contains is something you want to add to your library. It may be more expensive to purchase individual books, but you won't get hundreds of resources you don't want/need.
Response from Faithlife
Gregory, thank you for this review. We appreciate it. You're correct. Purchasing libraries is definitely more cost effective than the individual titles.
If you're ever considering a larger purchase, don't hesitate to call in to our team. We're happy to help crunch the numbers and recommend the most cost-effective way to add the resources you're looking at to your library.

An endless number of resources, literally in the palm of your hands
I consider myself a very investigative character, I usually don't take anyone to their word, my curiosity has pushed me to doubt and research many topics and the enlightenment and spiritual enrichment has been amazing.
Pros
I currently have over 2500 resources in my library, I will possibly not have time ever to read every single one of them, BUT through the usage of Logos 8 I am able to reference my entire library for whatever pieces of information I need, even when researching while on the go on my cellphone.
Cons
The inability to import resources to my kindle. I'd even be happy if they would come up with a device (like a Kindle) exclusive for their content.

Good, if you have the money
Pros
I love the ease of finding a lot of information about a text quickly on one screen. I also enjoy being about to work across my desktop, tablet, and phone somewhat seamlessly.
Cons
The software itself is expensive. Also, the resources are costly; it is almost always cheaper to buy a used commentary from the internet than to buy the same commentary in Logos. Finally, the newer version is a memory hog and runs slow, even on my fairly new laptop.

Get What You Pay For
I can’t recommend this enough for serious scholars and laymen alike!
Pros
While expensive, this program is really worth the money. One can do a vast amount of research with such a great amount of ease.
Cons
I only wish the price would come down a little to make it more accessible to the masses.

Logos is the most powerful and useful Bible software out there.
It gives me deeper understanding of the Bible as I use the original language tools, and access to great commentaries, bible dictionaries, and other resources all on my computer so I can dive deeper into something I am wanting to learn more about.
Pros
The language tools, in particular the Greek and Hebrew interlinear features that enable you to see what original language words were used, and quickly find their definitions.
I like having a number of commentaries available at the click of the button (much faster than having to pull them from the shelf; and easier when it comes time to move as well!).
Cons
The cost for a good set is very expensive.
Also, sometimes it can be challenging to remember how to do certain functions (such as export verse lists to Word, or execute various search functions).

Ministry Life-Saver
I originally switched to Logos from the Macintosh version of Accordance just out of seminary. I was hesitant at first, but I have been happy I made the switch. I have been using Logos everyday in my preparation time for almost 20 years. I would not use any other software.
Pros
Logos Bible software has enabled me to study the bible more effectively and efficiently. I love that my library is basically at my fingertips and can go with me no matter where I am preparing my sermons.
Cons
The cost to upgrade can be expensive for ministers who are on a tight budget.

Good
Pros
I like the availability and practicality of the material. There are many valuable resources available there. Also, they are always offering new content and it is perceptive that they want to cover many books that are important in the field of biblical studies and theology. There is also a discount program for students, which has been helpful to get essential sources for a less high price.
Cons
More advanced research is still tricky. By contrast, there are many features that are possible to achieve with Bible Works that are not possible in Logos. For example, Logos is not helpful when I want to research specific lemmas and common phrases within the Hebrew Bible. It is still very dependent on traditional, though important, lexicons and theological dictionaries. It is not versatile and dynamic, though. In that case, the advanced reader needs to combine logos with Bible Works. Both are, however, very expensive.

Great in-depth software
Logos has really made it easy to do in depth analysis of Bible texts, including original language tools. The cross reference system allows you to find connections you might otherwise miss.
Pros
The complete integration of all Bible resources into one place makes Logos software a powerful tool. The free books that come with the base application are a good place to start and it is possible to continually add new books to your system. Purchases are upgrade proof and any books you buy are always compatible with the next version.
Cons
There is a high price tag to get in to the deepest features of the program. Additionally, the price of individual books can be cost prohibitive.

An investment, but definitely worth it.
I have been using Logos for 15 years, and it keeps getting better. The library I have available to me enables me to learn God's Word and teach it better than I could have done without it.
Although it is quite an investment, it has been worth it for me. Would highly recommend it!
My only caution would be to wait until after seminary to purchase it. I found myself relying too heavily on its tools while learning the original languages, so I didn't learn them as well as I should have. Would recommend waiting until you have a good handle on the languages before you purchase it.
Pros
Gives me access to more resources than I could ever use, dramatically enriching my Bible study while saving tremendous time.
Cons
It is expensive to purchase and keep upgraded.

My favorite Bible Software
I have used Logos for many years. I find it superior to all other Bible softwares.
Pros
I love the fact that through the years I’ve been able to amass quite a significant library. I also enjoy the fact that I can use it on many platforms and devices. I also look forward to the monthly free books and my birthday gift.
Cons
Sometimes the language study section is a little clunky for me.

Excellent resource for those who write/compile church study tools
Overall, this is an awesome product. Highly recommend to pastors, Bible study leaders, as well as professors.
Pros
Use weekly ...I do a lot of Biblical research for my church, as I write Bible studies for one of our pastors. this software has helped me immensely when it comes to cross referencing, finding concordances. expository or just certain quotes that illustrate my points well. I purchased this initially as a trial. We loved it, so I ended up purchasing for our church.
Cons
I honestly don't have any bad reviews for this. It is adequately meeting all of our needs thus far.
